Press Telegram, DeCourcy: Wear twins to transfer from UNC.
[May 6, 2010] As first reported by the press Telegram of Long Beach (CA), the father of David and Travis Wear has told UNC Head Men's Basketball Coach Roy Williams that his sons are transferring. At this time, the twins' father has offered no further details as to why his sons plan to transfer (Photo: Daily Me; Article: SportingNews.com).

Kyle Busch gives himself early birthday present at Richmond.
[May 1, 2010] In the 2009 version of the spring Sprint Cup race at Richmond, Denny Hamlin dominated early only to fall back as Kyle Busch came on strong late to win. The 2010 version featured the leader starting strong again, only to fall back as the race progressed. The difference in 2010 is that Kyle Busch was the leader who started strong and faded and and in 2010 that leader battled back to win, taking the Heath Calhoun Crown Royal 400 at Richmond (Photo: TSN; Article: FoxSports.com).

Super Saver saves best for last.
[May 1, 2010] Thoroughbred trainer Todd Pletcher needed 25 attempts but he finally captured his first Kentucky Derby, using a man who certainly knows his way to victory at the Louisville track as his guide. Pletcher and jockey Calvin Borel teamed to make Super Saver the winner in the 136th Run for the Roses at Churchill Downs (Photo: AP; Article: ESPN.com).

Gosselin's 2nd inning slam propels UVA baseball to win.
[Apr. 28, 2010] Coming of a dominating weekend sweep at lowly Maryland, Virginia's baseball team met a hot challenger when 10th ranked Coastal Carolina entered Charlottesville riding a 17 game winning streak. The top ranked Cavaliers ended the Chanticleers skid with a 6-2 win, as catcher Phil Gosselin ripped a 2-1 hanging slider over the left field wall in the 2nd inning (Photo/Article: DailyProgress.com).

Harvick wins thriller at Talladega.
[Apr. 26, 2010] Last week was a rough one for #29 Richard Childress Racing Team. Not only had the driver of the Richard Childress Racing #29 Chevy, Kevin Harvick, gone a painful 115 races without a win, the team learned its primary sponsor Shell/Pennzoil was leaving for Penske Racing. The upcoming week should be a bit nicer: Kevin Harvick bump-drafted with Jamie McMurray to the lead on the third and final restart in the Aarons 499 at Talladega Superspeedway, the used a slingshot move to nip this year's Daytona 500 winner in one of the tracks most thrilling races ever (Photo: AP; Article SI.com).

Bowles: 5 things learned from Talladega.
[Apr. 25, 2010] How much did the rear spoiler create good racing at Talladega and how much of a factor did the restrictor plate play? Do Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson really loathe each other? Tom Bowles answers these questions and more in his weekly SI.com piece "Five things we learned at Talladega." (Article: SI.com).

Redskins finally address O-Line in 1st round.
[Apr. 23, 2010] With smokescreens swirling about "interest" in Oklahoma QB Sam Bradford, most outsiders could look at the Redskins roster and realize where their true draft interests and needs rested: Offensive Line. The new Redskins regime finally took a step towards addressing that dilemma by selecting another former Sooner, Oklahoma Offensive Tackle Trent Williams (Photo/Article: TimesDispatch.com).

2010 NFL Schedule released.
[Apr. 20, 2010] The NFL fan's most anticipated week begins with the release of the 2010 road map to Super Bowl VL (or the top pick in the 2011 draft). Donovan McNabb's first game as Redskins QB is a prime-time affair against Dallas, while he returns to Philly October 3. The Carolina Panthers ring in the new Meadowlands as they travel to the Giants (Photo: EaglesMix.com; Article: FoxSports.com).

Hokies avoid sweep with 8-5 baseball win at UVA.
[Apr. 19, 2010] The Virginia Cavaliers were one pitch away from a baseball sweep over chief Commonwealth rival Virginia Tech. The 20th ranked Hokies, however, battled to score five runs in the top of the 9th inning, overcoming a two run deficit for an 8-5 victory over the number two Wahoos (Photo/Article: DailyProgress.com).

Hokies, 'Hoos set for crucial series on the...diamond
[Apr. 16, 2010] Whenever the two most athletically prominent schools in the Commonwealth square off, the contests generate a buzz. Typically the hype sticks to the gridiron or hardwood. In 2010, however, the two universities have taken different paths to relevance on another surfaces: the baseball diamond. Most pundits expected UVA's baseball to be Top 5 nationally. The Hokies, though have also worked their way into the Top 25 in the surprise role. Both are now set for a 3 game series this weekend in Charlottesville (Photo/Article: DailyProgress.com).

Jerry Jones caught on camera video ripping Parcells, Tebow.
[Apr. 15, 2010] In one of the NFL's more bizarre cases of personal misconduct, a fan recently captured Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones jabbing at former 'Boys Head Coach Bill Parcells and prospective NFL Quarberback Tim Tebow. Despite the controversy surrounding the incident in which Jones appears a bit inebriated, the NFL most likely will not levy any punishment against Jones (Photo: ReadAndReact.net; Link: FoxSports.com).

Tunstall softball snaps 5 game skid.
[Apr. 14, 2010] Losing streaks are a bit uncommon amongst Tunstall's softball program. Five game skids are almost unheard of. For a team facing a rebuilding year after the loss of a slew of key senior contributers and their long-tenured head coach, the Lady Trojans found themselves in unfamiliar territory heading into Wednesday's game against Dan River, on the heels of a five game losing streak. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Megan Dillon's bases loaded triple with two outs broke open a close game and sent the Lady Trojans to a 9-2 win and ended their unprecedented skid (Photo/Article: GoDanRiver.com).

Rich get richer: Hendrick nabs top free agent Kasey Kahne.
[Apr. 14, 2010] Nascar has often featured two sets of teams: the "haves" and the "have nots." As Tom Bowles of SI.com suggests, the sport needs three classifications: poor, rich, and Hendrick. Already boasting the sport's deepest and most resource-driven teams, Hendrick Motorsports will add another talented driver to the flock when Kasey Kahne joins the group in 2012. HIs 2011 destination is not yet settled, although many suppose it will be with Hendrick's "farm team" Stewart-Hass Racing (Article:: SI.com).

Mid-level NFL players also feeling pinch.
[Apr. 13, 2010] By now most Americans realize the economy is bad (news flash!) and some are even tired of hearing the same old song. While the upper-echelon folks don't seem to feel the hit as badly as most, the middle and lower tier folks certainly seem to feel the blow. The same can be said of the National Football League. While the "premium" free agents like defensive end Julius Peppers and linebacker Karlos Dansby inked mega-deals this off-season, the rest of the NFL free-agent pool also seems to be feeling the economic pinch (Photo: Article: NewsObserver.com).

Davis to forgo final 2 years at UNC for NBA Draft.
[Apr. 13, 2010] Despite a wrist injury which sidelined him for the second half of the 2009-2010 season, Ed Davis has decided to forgo his final two years at UNC and enter the NBA draft. While Davis hasn't hired an agent, all indications point toward his seeking an agent and it appears imminent that he will not return to Chapel Hill (Photo:Getty Images;Article: InsideCarolina.com).

Lefty win's one for the family.
[Apr. 12, 2010] Most of the pre-Masters hype centered around a certain golfer's return to the game, after taking time off for "failure to be a family man." The post-Masters talk shifts to a man who won the tournament for his family. Nearly a year after his wife, Amy, was diagnosed with breast cancer, Phil Mickelson claimed his third green jacket and one of the most emotional victories of his PGA career (Photo: Getty Images; Article: CBSSports.com).
