Tigers Power Past Virginia[Mar. 4, 2009] The second half has not been friendly to the Cavaliers this season.
Once again, Virginia fell victim to a slow start to the second half and couldn’t recover as No. 18 Clemson exploded to a 75-57 victory, avenging UVa’s upset victory in Charlottesville earlier this season.
Redskins Release All-Pro Jason Taylor[Mar. 3, 2009] The Washington Redskins released defensive end Jason Taylor on Monday after the six-time All-Pro failed to accept a workout commitment.
Taylor was asked by the Redskins to take part in 75 percent of their offseason workouts, a source told ESPN.com's John Clayton. That would have required him to be at the Redskins' facility during eight of the 13 weeks of the offseason program, three days a week.
Miami Slips By Hoos Late[Feb. 27, 2009] Offensive woes came back to haunt the Cavaliers again on Thursday night. The hosts failed to score in the game's final six possessions and Miami slipped out of the John Paul Jones Arena with a 62-55 win. Three turnovers by three different players down the stretch contributed heavily to the loss as ball-handling issues continued to plague Virginia in the loss.
Hokies Get Revenge on Tigers[Feb. 26, 2009] With their backs against the wall, Virginia Tech came up with a huge 80-77 victory at #12 Clemson on Wednesday night. The win puts the Hokies back into the NCAA tournament picture. Tech moved to 17-10 overall, with a 7-6 mark in ACC play. Clemson dropped to 22-5 and 8-5 on the season.
Rice's Big Three Helps BC Knock Off FSU[Feb. 25, 2009] BOSTON -- Boston College certainly has made a statement against some of the Atlantic Coast Conference's elite.
Tyrese Rice hit a key 3-pointer with 20.5 seconds to play and Joe Trapani scored 19 points to lead Boston College to a 72-67 upset of Florida State (No. 25 ESPN/USA Today, No. 23 AP) on Tuesday night.
Braves, Anderson Reach Agreement[Feb. 24, 2009] LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- In the end, the Braves might feel fortunate that Ken Griffey Jr. decided to return to the Mariners.
College Park Collapse[Feb. 23, 2009] COLLEGE PARK, Md. – After leading by as many as 16 points in the second half, No. 3 North Carolina disintegrated and allowed Maryland to score nine unanswered points in the final 98 seconds of regulation and force overtime en route to a stunning 88-85 victory at the Comcast Center on Saturday.
Bulldogs Surge Past Warriors in OT 50-42[Feb. 20, 2009] At 6-foot-2 and 265 pounds, it’s not hard to spot Ronwyn Pritchett — especially in overtime.
The Bulldogs’ senior center scored six of his team’s eight points in OT Thursday night to help Martinsville’s boys basketball team top Magna Vista 50-42 in the semifinals of the Piedmont District Tournament at Bassett High School.
Hoos beat cold-shooting hokies[Feb. 19, 2009] Virginia used a 17-2 run that spanned both halves to beat Virginia Tech 75-61 in Charlottesville on Wednesday night. Playing without starting forward Jeff Allen, their leading rebounder and third-leading scorer, the Hokies couldn't get much done offensively as they lost their second straight game. Tech dropped to 16-9 overall and 6-5 in the ACC.
Jeff Allen Suspended[Feb. 17, 2009] Virginia Tech has suspended sophomore forward Jeff Allen for Wednesday night's game at Virginia. Allen was caught on camera giving an obscene gesture to the Maryland student section after fouling out during Tech's 83-73 loss at Maryland on Saturday.
Heels Survive Hurricanes[Feb. 16, 2009] CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Whenever Ty Lawson decides to play for pay, the lightning-quick point guard should seriously consider signing with a team that resides in the Sunshine State. The junior drained three 3-pointers in scoring No. 3 North Carolina’s last 11 points en route to a 69-65 victory over Miami in South Florida.
Cameron Perfection; Heels win 101-87[Feb. 12, 2009] DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina senior class ended their careers with a perfect 4-0 mark at Cameron Indoor Stadium, but the elders relied on junior Ty Lawson to drive and penetrate his way to a 101-87 victory against Duke, scoring 21 of his season-high 25 points after intermission
