Washington State Coach Tony Bennett headed to Virginia
[Mar. 31, 2009] Tony Bennett, who led Washington State to its first appearance in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament in 2008, will be named head coach at Virginia.

Washington State director of athletics Jim Sterk confirmed that Bennett has accepted the head-coaching position at Virginia on Tuesday.

[Mar. 27, 2009] BOSTON -- No team has erased more chalk from the NCAA tournament than Villanova.

The third-seeded Wildcats beat Duke for the first time in more than 50 years on Thursday night, getting 14 points and 11 rebounds from Dante Cunningham to win 77-54 and advance to the East regional final. It was Villanova's 14th NCAA victory over a higher-seeded team -- the most in tournament history.
 
Carolina knocks off 8th seeded LSU 84-70, moves on to Sweet 16.
[Mar. 23, 2009] With the help of ACC Player-of-the-Year Ty Lawson's 23 points (21 in the 2nd half), No. 1 seed UNC used a late second half spurt to knock off No. 8 seed LSU 84-70 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Carolina will take on Gonzaga in the Sweet 16 (Friday, 9:57 ET, ESPN 1160 WODY and Fox 900 WCBX).
 
Hansbrough Sets Record; Heels Roll
[Mar. 20, 2009] GREENSBORO, N.C. – Tyler Hansbrough needed just four minutes and 17 seconds to set the ACC scoring record, and he accomplished that lofty goal in fitting fashion – at the free throw line. The four-time All-American scored 22 points in North Carolina's 101-58 victory over Radford in Thursday’s NCAA opener.

Virginia Tech downed Duquesne 116-108 in an exciting double overtime game in Cassell Coliseum on Wednesday night. Three Hokies set their career high in points, and all five starters scored in double figures. Tech will return to action on Saturday morning at 11am when they host a second round NIT matchup against Baylor.

Hokies Get Defensive in Blowout over Miami
[Mar. 13, 2009] Needing a win to keep their NCAA tournament hopes alive, the Hokies easily handled Miami on Thursday, beating the Hurricanes 65-47 in the opening game of the 2009 ACC Tournament. Virginia Tech improved to 18-13 overall with the win, and they'll face #1 North Carolina on Friday at noon.
