MORGANTOWN, W.Va.(August 12, 2008) The West Virginia UniversityWomen ‘s soccer team received its first 2008 preseason ranking today.The Mountaineers were tabbed No. 12 in the National Soccer CoachesAssociation of America (NSCAA)/adidas poll. Four WVU opponents are ranked in the NSCAA/adidas poll: Virginia (No.6), Connecticut (No. 11), Tennessee (No. 13) and Santa Clara (No. 22).Today’s poll is the first of 14 rankings throughout the season by theNSCAA. The Mountaineers return seven starters this season as they look todefend their BIG EAST regular season and tournament titles. NikkiIzzo-Brown begins her 13th season in charge of the Mountaineers and hasled her teams to eight straight NCAA tournament appearances. WVU will play one exhibition match before its season-opener againstTowson on Friday, Aug. 22. The Mountaineers will travel to College Park,Md., for a 7 p.m. exhibition match with Maryland on Saturday, Aug. 16.
