MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (July 30, 2008) - West Virginia University's 2008
men's soccer recruiting class has gained national recognition,
recently being ranked 26th by College Soccer News on Tuesday.
The incoming class features 14 freshmen and two junior transfers. Of
the 16 total newcomers, there are six defenders, six forwards, three
midfielders and one goalkeeper.
Raymon Gaddis, a freshman from Indianapolis, Ind., and Mo Travis, a
transfer from Creighton, were both highlighted in the write-up by CSN.
Gaddis was an NSCAA High School All-American defender at North Central
and was ranked among the top 135 players nationally in 2006-07 by
ESP/adidas. A 2007 ESP All-Star, he was also a two-time ESP/adidas
selection. Travis, who is expected to be a scoring threat for WVU,
appeared in 37 matches in two seasons with the Bluejays, tallying six
goals during that span.
The No. 26 national ranking is Head Coach Marlon LeBlanc's best mark
as a recruiter since the turn of the millennium. The Mountaineers have
placed in the top 30 in back-to-back years under LeBlanc's guidance.
WVU's 2008 campaign begins with an exhibition against Virginia at
Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium on Aug. 16 at 7:30 p.m. The Mountaineers open
the regular season at home on Aug. 29 with the West Virginia University
Classic, against Lafayette, at 7 p.m.
