Jerry Seymour, Glenville State, Sr., RB, 5-7, 195, Miramar, FL: Seymour
recorded his third straight 200-yard plus rushing effort with 220 yards on
33 carries in a 23-13 win over rival Fairmont State...The national rushing
leader and Harlon Hill Trophy contender scored on rushes of 15 and 7 yards
as the Pioneers improved to 2-1 in conference play...The senior has moved
into 26th place on the WVIAC career rushing list with 2639 yards in only 16
games as a Pioneer...Seymour is averaging 228.7 yards per game and 8.3 yards
per rush in league play during 2008.

*Defensive Players of the Week:*
Nick Harding, West Liberty, Sr., LB, 6-0, 225, Lackawanna, NY/Rob Ellis,
Seton Hill, Jr., LB, 5-11, 210, Sarasota, FL: Harding helped West Liberty
whitewash West Virginia Wesleyan 46-0 by contributing a dozen tackles,
including four tackles for loss and two sacks...The Topper defense limited
Wesleyan to 5-for-28 passing and 207 total yards on the afternoon...Ellis
had four tackles for loss among his seven tackles in Seton Hill's 24-14 win
against defending league champion Shepherd...The Griffin defense played a
key role in keeping SHU unbeaten as they held Shepherd to 257 yards of total
offense.

Hager, West Liberty, Sr., K, 5-10, 190, Ocala, FL: Johnson returned a punt
56 yards for a touchdown during Charleston's 28-point third quarter as the
Golden Eagles downed Concord 42-17...The sophomore recorded 87 yards on four
punt returns and added a 24-yard kickoff return...He also notched an 85-yard
rush for a touchdown...Hager was 3-for-4 on field goal attempts and perfect
on five point afters in West Liberty's 46-0 win against West Virginia
Wesleyan...Hager's 52-yarder is the longest in the WVIAC this season...The
senior moved into third place on the conference career kick scoring list
with 236 points...The record is owned by West Virginia Wesleyan's Eric Myers
(1993-96) with 262 points.

---West Liberty's Darren Banks now owns the WVIAC career record with 33
interceptions...The senior has snagged five picks so far in 2008...That
figure equals or betters the team totals for six WVIAC squads.

---Home teams fared better in the third week of conference play with a 3-1
mark...Visiting squads still own an 8-4 record in league contests.

---Shepherd has dropped three straight league games for the first time since
1989.

---Seton Hill extended their school record for victories to five as the
Griffins remained unbeaten following their 24-14 win versus Shepherd.

---Charleston's Julian Johnson has scored an amazing six touchdowns on only
24 touches this season...The sophomore is the lone WVIAC player in 2008 to
have recorded rushing, receiving, punt return, and kickoff return
touchdowns.

---West Virginia State is ranked for the first time as a NCAA Division II
member...The Jackets are #24 in the D2Football.com media poll and #25 in the
American Football Coaches' Association rankings.

---Third quarters have been the nemesis for injury-riddled Concord in
2008...The 0-5 Mountain Lions have led at intermission three times this
season, but have been outscored 63-14 in third quarters.

---Fairmont State linebacker Nate Black has recorded nine or more tackles in
each of the past four games.

Zach Amedro (WL) completed 18 of 30 passes for 351 yards...Chris Almonte
(UC) notched five tackles for loss...Branden Ore (WL) rushed for 117 yards
and three scores...Antwarn Jones (SHU) gained 158 yards on 27 carries with
two touchdowns...David Wess (SHU) completed 21 of 30 passes for 226
yards...Eddie Hills (WL) had 102 receiving yards and 81 rush yards...Thomas
Mayo (CU) caught nine passes for 115 yards...Jay Julian (UC) gainned 99
yards on 11 rushes...Sammy Tranks (SHU) racked up nine receptions for 98
yards and added a key fourth quarter punt return...Johnny Bonar (WL) caught
three passes for 100 yards...Reggie Taylor (WVWC) rushed 24 times for 101
yards...Matt Galadyk (SHU) recorded a pair of sacks...Kaleb Lawrence (GSC)
led his squad with nine tackles...Nate and Luke Black (FSU) recorded ten

*Week #5 Game Summaries:*
*Glenville State 23, Fairmont State 13 *
(GLENVILLE)---Jerry Seymour went over the 200-yard mark for a third
consecutive game as Glenville State (3-2, 2-1) downed rival Fairmont State
(3-2, 1-2) 23-13. The senior romped for 220 yards on 33 carries as the
Pioneers bounced back from last week's loss to Seton Hill.

Glenville limited Fairmont to nine first downs and 141 yards of total
offense. Ryan Jannak racked up three tackles for loss and A.D. Hale set up
a short GSC touchdown drive with a 30-yard interception return.

The Pioneers led 16-0 at the break. Seymour and James McCants had first
quarter touchdown rushes and Alex Amick added a 25-yard second quarter field
goal.

Fairmont State accounted for the third quarter's lone score as Vick Bradford
hooked up with Travis Hawthorne on a 31-yard to touchdown pass to cut the
deficit to 16-6.

Seymour pushed the Glenville lead back to 23-6 with a seven-yard rush at the
11:30 mark. FSU ended the scoring when Bradford completed a 15-yard scoring
strike to Stephan Johnson.

Bradford rushed for 49 yards to pace the Falcon attack, but was limited to
6-for-16 through the air for only 48 yards. Nate and Luke Black each had
ten tackles for FSU.

Glenville, which accounted for 23 first downs and 347 yards of total
offense, saw McCants complete 10 of 24 passes for 117 yards. Antwarn
Stewart had four receptions for a team-high 60 yards.

West Liberty 46, West Virginia Wesleyan 0 *
(WEST LIBERTY)---West Liberty (3-2, 2-0) rolled up 631 yards in a 46-0
whitewashing of West Virginia Wesleyan (1-4, 1-2). Eddie Hills had 102
receiving yards and added 81 rush yards as the Hilltoppers picked up their
first home win of 2008 after losses to Edinboro and Mars Hill.

Senior Darren Banks became the WVIAC's career leader in interceptions when
he nabbed his 33rd all-time pick. The Topper defense limited Wesleyan to
5-for-28 passing and only 207 yards of total offense. Nick Harding racked
up a dozen tackles, including a pair of sacks.

Zach Amedro hit on 18 of 28 passes for 351 yards as eight different Toppers
accounted for receptions. Johnny Bonar had three catches for 100 yards,
while Branden Ore contributed three short rushing touchdowns and 117 rush
yards.

Reggie Taylor was the main offensive weapon for Wesleyan, rushing for 101
yards on 24 carries and 44 yards on one reception.

West Liberty kicker Billy Hager booted a 52-yarder, as part of his 3-for-3
day on field goal attempts. The senior also hit on all five of his extra
point efforts.

*Seton Hill 24, Shepherd 14*
(GREENSBURG)---Seton Hill (5-0, 2-0) remained unbeaten with a 24-14 victory
against Shepherd (2-3, 0-3). David Wess tossed a pair of touchdown passes
as the Griffins overcame five turnovers to win their Homecoming contest.

Antwarn Jones gained a game-high 158 rushing yards on 27 carries to lead
Seton Hill. David Wess completed 21 of 30 passes for 226 yards. Sammy
Tranks had nine catches for 98 yards and added a key fourth quarter punt
return that set up Jones' game-clinching 24-yard touchdown rush.

Shepherd, which trailed 10-7 at the half, received 148 pass yards from Tyler
Lazear on 18 for 37 passing. Jimmy Sutch rushed 13 times for 57 yards.

Seton Hill owned a 388-257 edge in total offense as they sent Shepherd to
their third consecutive league loss for the first time since 1989.

The Rams grabbed the initial lead at 7-0 on Sutch's 34-yard touchdown rush,
but the Griffins would score the game's next 17 points on Wess' pair of
scoring passes and a 25-yard Steve Padilla field goal.

Shepherd would close to within 17-14 early in the fourth quarter when
Michael Johnson found paydirt from five yards out, but the Griffins would
put the game away on Jones' touchdown in the final three minutes.

*Charleston 42, Concord 17 *
(ATHENS)---Charleston (3-2, 2-1) exploded for 28 third quarter points to
erase a 10-7 deficit to win at Concord (0-5, 0-3). Jay Julian and Julian
Johnson each tallied a pair of third quarter touchdowns as the Golden Eagles
racked up 439 rush yards.

Julian rushed for 99 yards on eleven carries, while Johnson added 92 rush
yards and a 56-yard punt return. Dan Brown chipped in with 74 yards on only
three rushes, including a 38-yard score.

Concord's Thomas Frazier completed 19 of 30 passes for 174 yards. Thomas
Mayo caught nine passes for 115 yards and two scores. Nathan Tanner
contributed four catches for 75 yards.

Charleston took control of the game with a 21-point burst in the opening
5:05 of the second half. A 63-yard rush by Vince Brown on the first play
from scrimmage of the third quarter set up a one-yard Julian plunge. Julian
then added a 40-yard sprint for a score, while Johnson's punt return
touchdown pushed the UC lead to 28-10.

Chris Almonte recorded five tackles for loss, while Dominick Iacovone added
four tackles for loss and two sacks as the Charleston defense limited
Concord to 54 rush yards.
