MORGANTOWN, W.Va.(Sept. 5, 2008) The West Virginia University cross
country team will take part in an intrasquad Gold-BlueRace at the WVU
Agronomy Farm on Saturday, Sept. 6. The race is set to begin at 10 a.m.
The Mountaineers are coming off a top finish at the Preston Relays, the
team's 2008 debut, on Aug. 30. Redshirt freshman Ahna Lewis and junior
Karly Hamric finished first overall in the race with a combined time of
35:45.50, which featured Alderson-Broaddus College, Davis and Elkins and
West Virginia Wesleyan.
The Gold-BlueRace, which will only feature the Mountaineers, is the
lone home race for the team.
The squad returns all seven starting runners from last season's
conference champion team that took ninth-place at the NCAA
Championships, including the junior All-American duo of Marie-Louise
Asselin and Keri Bland.
