West Virginia State has entered the football Top 25 for the first time since becoming an NCAA Division II member in 1995.

The Jackets are #24 in the D2Football.com media poll and #25 in the American Footbal Coaches Association's poll.

The 4-0 Jackets knocked off archrival Charleston for the first time in four tries with a 24-21 victory on Saturday.

Earl Monroe's squad will enjoy an open date this week before hosting Concord on October 4.

Shepherd fell out of both polls after the 2-2 Rams dropped a 46-42 decision to Fairmont State.
