Women¹s Golf
Virginia junior golfer Whitney Neuhauser (Barboursville, Va.) advanced to
the match play portion of the 2008 U.S. Women¹s Amateur Championship being
held at the Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Ore. Neuhauser finished the
36-hole stroke play portion of the tournament Tuesday tied for fourth

Tuesday. There were 155 players in the field for the event.

The 64-player match play competition begins Wednesday and continues until
the 36-hole final on Sunday.

Men¹s Golf
Conrad Von Borsig (Swarthmore, Pa.), a rising senior on the Virginia men¹s
golf team, and Cavalier assistant coach Jay Fisher (Suffolk, Va.) have
qualified for the 2008 U.S. Amateur Championship. On Monday Von Borsig tied
for third at the qualifier held at DuPont Country Club in Wilmington, Del.
He had rounds of 72 and 65 for a 36-hole total of 137.

Fisher qualified Tuesday at White Manor Country Club in Malvern, Pa. He shot
72 and 71 and won a three-way playoff for the second qualifying spot by
posting a birdie on the first extra hole.

UVa sophomore Amory Davis shot 141 at the same qualifier as Von Borsig to be
an alternate for the tournament.

The 2008 U.S. Amateur Championship will take place Aug. 18-24 on Pinehurst
No 2 and No. 4. The field of 312 competitors will participate in 36 holes of
stroke play on Monday and Tuesday. The field will be cut to the low 64
players for match play after Tuesday¹s round. Match play begins Wednesday
