Frank Beamer Opens Scrimmages To The Public

Virginia Tech head football coach Frank Beamer has once again opened
Tech's three preseason scrimmages, which will be held in Lane
Stadium. Last year was the first time any of the scrimmages were
opened to the public.

The scrimmages will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 12, Saturday, Aug. 16
and Friday, Aug. 22.

"I know our players enjoy performing in front of the crowds," Beamer
said, "and I want our fans to create game-like conditions. We have so
many players who'll be getting significant playing time, for the
first time in their careers, that it's important that they get a feel
for playing in front of a crowd in these scrimmages. Plus, it puts
additional pressure on our kicking game, and we need to see how our
specialists respond to that."
